The history of the Rallycross de Dreux began in 1977 with a first event organized by Jean-Claude Legoubin the Bois Guyon site. After a lull of a dozen of years, two other Rallycross were organized on the same site in 1986 and 1987.
In 1995, the deputy mayor of Dreux Gérard Hamel attended a round of the Championship of France in Essay (61). Seduced by the show and the popular enthusiasm, he asked Philip Canon and Dominique Rioux, President of the Ecurie of thyme, organize an event in Dreux.
In 1997, an agreement was reached; an agreement with the leaders of the Hippodrome de Dreux: Rallycross de Dreux reborn! Over the years, it became clear that the site was no longer suited to d'exigences criteria spectators, placed too far from the track. In addition, Home capacity remained limited.
A round table was held between the Mayor of Dreux, the Ecurie of thyme, Laurent Fresnais Tondu and Bruno (the new owners du Bois Guyon, Circuit renamed the Western Paris). It was therefore proceeding to the design of this new track. The Thymerais of Ecurie had one major goal: to offer the most possible entertainment! A width of 13 to 17 meters, the new circuit provides an alternative tower promoting overtaking and strategy. No less than 70% of the coating is composed of 12 000 tonnes of low cement mixed with fine sand. Another dramatic innovation, a banked curve to 12% of a tar-coated low adhesion.
Another requirement was to have the public visibility of the entire circuit. The occupancy is 22 000 spectators.
