Circuit des Sables d'Olonne (Puits d'enfer) - Informations

The Les Sables-d'Olonne circuit, also known as Puits d'Enfer, has been closed and sold by the ASA Vendée to the Conservatoire du littoral (the French coastal protection agency). The aim is to clean up the site and replace the circuit with a natural area open to the public.

The only homologated motor racing circuit in the Vendée department, the Puits d'Enfer circuit dates back to 1959. At that time it was one of the very first racing circuits in France. The original layout no longer exists, although insiders can still recognise the old track in places. Many single-seater races were held on this circuit for several years.
